Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic Floor Therapy for Men and Women

Evaluations and Treatment for Incontinence and Pelvic Issues

HealthReach Rehab's treatment of bladder, bowel and pelvic muscle problems is based on traditional therapy techniques, behavioral strategies and computerized biofeedback assisted exercises.

Therapy may improve or relieve the symptoms of prolapse, and may also be indicated for pre-surgical conditioning of the pelvic floor musculature as in prostatectomy, bladder suspension and prolapse repairs.

Treatment Evaluation

Before you are treated, you will be evaluated so HealthReach can determine the proper, individualized course of treatment. The evaluation protocol may include:

  • a pelvic floor muscle examination
  • sEMG study of pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
  • dietary assessment
  • voiding diary assessment
  • work/leisure limitations assessment

Treatment Options

Treatment may include the following:

  • education in bowel, bladder and pelvic floor muscle anatomy and function
  • biofeedback assisted exercises
  • myofascial release, scar tissue management and visceral mobilization techniques
  • physiological quieting techniques
  • dietary modifications
  • skin care management
  • individualized Home Exercise Program (HEP)

Confidential, individual training and support is provided by licensed occupational and physical therapists that specialize in pelvic floor muscle disorders and incontinence. Treatment is provided in complete privacy.

Treatment for incontinence and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction is covered by Medicare and most insurance plans.
